Swimming Teams Defeat York in Monday Night CUNYAC Meet

The swimming teams were both victorious in a CUNY Athletic Conference meet on Monday evening at York College in Jamaica, New York.

The women’s team raised their record to 2-0 in the conference standings with a 97-72 victory, while the men evened their record at 1-1 with a 104-68 victory against the Cardinals from York College.

The swimming teams will return to action on Friday, December 5, as they will compete in the weekend long ECAC Division III Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in Long Island.

Men’s Highlights

**
R. Michael Shiwnath (800 free, 100 back) and Idan Saragosti (100 fly, 100 breast) were each victorious in two individual events. They also teamed up with Benjamin Chu and Justin Wong to win the 200 free relay. Saragosti also established the school and freshmen records in the 100 fly and breast events. 

** Camilo Reyes (200 medley relay, 200 free) and Benjamin Chu (200 free relay, 400 free) were also victorious in two events. Chu also finished second in 50 free.

**Jeffrey Wong took first and Justin Wong second in the 200 individual medley.

** Benyamin Abramov was a member of the winning 200 medley relay team.
Michael Mikhayla was second in the 200 free.

** Gustavo San Martin Dancourt was a member of the winning 200 medley relay and later finished second in the 100 fly.

Women’s Highlights

**
Katherine Hansen (400 & 800 free) and Grace Kim (
100 back, 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley) were both big winners this evening against York.

** The team of Irina Statina, Tiffany Wong, Olga Gaitskhoki and Atusa Mozaffari were victorious in the 200 free relay.

** Jessica Penaherrera was a member of the winning 200 medley relay and also took first place in the 100 fly.

** Irina Statina, in addition to being a member of the winning 200 free relay, also won individual first place in the 200 free.

** Priscilla Arana was first in the 100 free and second in 50 free.
