Women's Tennis Defeats St. Joseph's (LI) in Tough Non-Conference Match

The women's tennis team went on the road Thursday afternoon to record a tough 5-4 non-conference win against the Golden Eagles from St. Joseph's College of Patchogue.

The Bearcats won two of the three doubles (2-1) and then split the six singles (3-3) for the 5-4 team victory on Long Island.

The Bearcats won at first doubles behind the efforts of Ava Deguzman and Esther Benjamin, who now have 15 wins all-time combined in doubles, which is good for third place in the team record books.

Erica Sheludenko and Shanae Love would prove to record the important point in doubles winning at the second flight in a tie-breaker, 8-7 (7-0).

The team won the first three singles behind Deguzman (#1, 8-0), Sheludenko (#2, 8-6) and Benjamin (#3, 8-1) for the team victory.
