Carrie Thomas will begin her sixth year with the athletic department. She serves as the Assistant Director of Academics, Compliance and Eligibility, in addition to her continued designation as Senior Women's Administrator and SAAC Advisor.

She also recently served as administrator in charge during the Spring 2016 Semester and supervised all aspects of Student-Athlete Academic Services and Advisement.

During her first three years, she coached the women's volleyball to consecutive appearances in the CUNYAC Championship Match and was voted the Coach of the Year in 2015.

Thomas officially joined the Bearcats on March 17, 2014 after coaching the women's volleyball team at the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) to a 37-6 record and seventh place finish at the 2013 N.J.C.A.A. Division III National Tournament in Minnesota.

During her two years at F.I.T., she produced three All-Americans and totaled a 56-9 record to turn the Tigers into one of the top two-year volleyball programs in the Northeast Region. For her efforts, she was named the Region XI Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2013.

Prior to F.I.T., Thomas was the Head Women's Volleyball coach at Mesabi Range College in Virginia, Minnesota for six years. During her tenure at MRC, her teams played well in a very strong conference and regionals. Thomas' teams always performed strong academically and earned regional and national awards. She also coached softball at various levels while in Minnesota over the course of 15 years.

During the offseason, Thomas has coached various Junior Olympic Volleyball teams ranging from Under 18 to Under 12.

As a coach, Carrie looks for many things in a student-athlete.

"To be a star, you don't always have to have the most kills, assists, or be able to jump the highest," says Thomas. "To be the best, you must possess drive, determination and desire. These are the things that are going to make you successful; not only on the court but in the classroom as well. Give it your all, and always strive for excellence."

Carrie Thomas' responsibilities include being the Senior Women's Administrator for the Baruch College Athletic program. She will assist in all compliance aspects within Athletics and will represent the college at various NCAA events and rule seminars.

Thomas graduated with her associate degree from Mesabi Range College in Virginia, Minnesota. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota and earned her Masters degree in General Education from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
