The #10-ranked men's volleyball team split their two matches on Saturday in their first day of the 2012 regular season.

In the opening contest of the tri-match, the Bearcats battled rival Hunter College in a rare non-conference battle and won a very competitve encounter in five sets with scores of 19-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Sophomore
Steven Coniglio led the attack with 14 kills via a solid .619 hitting percentage. Freshman Christopher Kaimis totaled 12 kills and sophomore Nick Smith dished out a career-high of 42 assists to go along with six aces and five blocks to lead the Bearcats in the season-opening home win.

Sophomores
Jack McKee and Arnold Situmeang finished with eight kills each.

In the second match, the Bearcats played against the Division I program of Sacred Heart University and lost in three sets with scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-19.

Kaimis led the attack with a team-high six kills (.417) and Smith dished out 18 assists. McKee totaled five kills with a .500 hitting percentage.

The men's volleyball team will continue their tri-match schedule on Sunday, January 29, with home contests against Stevenson University (10:00 am) and #11-ranked Medaille College (2:00 pm).
