Deguzman, Benjamin Break School Doubles Record, Bearcats Defeat Lehman 9-0

The women's tennis team recorded a 9-0 victory against the Lightning of Lehman College on Friday afternoon at the Billie Jean King U.S. National Tennis Center.

With the result, the Bearcats stayed undefeated on both their regular season (9-0) and CUNYAC schedule (4-0) as they approach the final stretch of their season.

History was made this afternoon in doubles as the duo of Ava Deguzman and Esther Benjamin won their school record 23rd doubles match to beat the record previously held by Regina Kelly and Erica Sheludenko (22 total, 20021-2023). Ava and Esther won at first doubles 8-1.

Aishika Yadav won her second singles easily 6-0, 6-0, while Keila Pagan also won her #5 singles quickly at 6-1, 6-0. Maria Calvo won big at sixth singles 6-0, 6-0.

The Bearcats will return to action against John Jay on Tuesday in a potential battle for first place.
