Women's Tennis Wins CUNYAC Regular Season Title, Defeat John Jay, Deguzman Breaks Singles Record

The women's tennis team on Bearcats Appreciation Day recorded an 8-1 win against John Jay College at the Billie Jean King U.S. National Tennis Center in Queens.

The result keeps the team undefeated (10-0) in the regular season and their CUNYAC schedule (5-0). They also win the CUNYAC regular season title (first place) for the sixth time in their team history.

The home team Bearcats won all three doubles and five of the six singles for the 8-1 victory on the day they also honored Erica Sheludenko, Keila Pagan and Shanae Love for playing in their final regular season home game as a Bearcat.

Ava Deguzman broke another school record, this time recording her 41st all-time singles win to take over first place in that category after winning at first singles, 6-1, 6-1.

Shanae Love won convincingly at sixth singles 6-0, 6-0, while Esther Benjamin also blanked her opponent at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0.
The Bearcats will hit the road on Sunday to play their regular-season finale at Stockton University in Southern New Jersey. The CUNYAC playoffs start on October 24.
