John Jay Defeats Bearcats 68-60 in CUNYAC Match Up

The women's basketball team lost 68-60 to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College on Wednesday night in the ARC Arena.

John Jay shot 41 percent (26-for-63) from the field, including 6-11 from three, to record the CUNYAC victory.

The game started on fire with the Bearcats leading 17-12 after just five minutes behind three 3-pointers.

John Jay battled back to lead 39-33 at halftime. They maintained the lead in the third quarter managing to build up a 50-39 advantage with 2:08 left in the quarter.

The Bearcats' battled back twice in the fourth quarter to get as close as six points, but John Jay held on for the victory.

Mia Castillo led the Bearcats with a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four steals and four assists. Angela Bacarella had a career high 12 points, while Elissa Leung finished with 10 points.

The Bearcats' defense was strong tonight scoring 20 points off 21 turnovers by John Jay.

Chayanne Kelly led the visitors from Hell's Kitchen with a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds.
