The softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader against the Panthers of SUNY Purchase on Saturday afternoon at Flowers Park in New Rochelle, New York.
Carly Quint and
Caroline Gallagher each recorded wins on the mound, while
Megan Bell,
Mia Faddah, and
Bridget Campanelli each had inside-the-park homers in the 3-0 and 9-5 victories on a breezy, sunny afternoon.
The scoring started quickly as
Megan Bell homered to lead off the bottom of the first inning. Faddah later tripled in the inning to plate Quint for the 2-0 lead. The advantage grew to 3-0 in the fourth inning as
Amber Rivera hit into a fielder's choice that scored
Leilani Jimenez from third base.
Quint pitched the complete game shutout with a line of 7IP, 3H, 0R, 0B, and 7K for the victory in a game that lasted 1:17.
The second game featured 14 total runs but the Bearcats came out on top winning, 9-5.
After a scoreless first inning, the Bearcats scored twice in the second on RBI singles by
Grace Osuch and Bell.
They added three more runs in the third on an RBI single by Jimenez and a two-run homer by Campanelli.
Purchase scored 5 five runs behind four batters with two hits each, but struggled to keep up.
Gallagher pitched six innings for her third win of the season. Osuch and Bell had three hits each as the team's win streak is now at four in a row.
