Oneonta Downs Bearcats in Regular-Season Finale, CUNYAC Finals Start Sunday

The men's tennis team lost to SUNY Oneonta 6-3 in a non-conference match on Thursday afternoon at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Queens.

The visiting Red Dragons won two of the three doubles and four of the six singles for the team victory.

The Bearcats earned their three points starting with Tuna Nergizoglu and George Artega winning at second doubles, 8-4.

Nergizoglu won again at first singles with the score of 6-4, 7-5. He has totaled 12 wins this season at number one singles.

The third point was earned by Jordan Hernandez in a hard-fought encounter at fifth singles winning in a comeback, 1-6, 6-4, 10-5. 

The Bearcats will next turn their attention to the CUNYAC Championship Tournament that gets underway on Sunday at the U.S. National Tennis Center.

As the top seed, they will play fourth-seeded John Jay College in a semi-final match scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The semifinal winners will advance to the Final on Thursday, May 2.
