Women's Basketball Defeats Rival Hunter (71-59) in CUNYAC Opener

The women's basketball team is off to a great start in CUNYAC after going on the road on Friday night to record a 71-59 victory at Hunter College.

The Bearcats turned the game around in the third quarter after they trailed 27-23 at halftime.

They stormed out after the break scoring 26 of the first 30 points to jump ahead 49-31.The defense was also a factor as the Hawks only shot 2-of-12 from the field in that quarter.

The Bearcats controlled the rest of the game to win their first important CUNYAC contest of the season.

Mia Castillo almost had her second consecutive triple-double finishing with 26 points, 10 rebounds, eight steals and four blocks.

Elissa Leung was pivotal again scoring 19 points, six rebounds and three assists.

D'Andre McRae was a force in the paint with a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Precious Mitchell had an MVP performance with a double career-high of eight points and 10 rebounds.  

Angela Bacarella had another all-around effort on defense and offense to finish six points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.

The visiting Bearcats were stronger in the stats sheet in not only points but also in rebounds (B51, H48), assists (B14, H10), and steals (B18, H13).
