Women's Basketball Defeats Lehman in Regular Season Finale; Playoffs Start Saturday

The women's basketball team finished their regular-season schedule with a four-game winning streak after defeating the Lightning of Lehman College, 66-49, on Wednesday night at the The APEX in the Bronx.

The Bearcats finish the regular-season with a 15-10 overall record and 10-4 mark in the CUNYAC. The 15 wins are the most since 2014-15. 

The visiting Bearcats took control early scoring 17 of the final 20 points of the first quarter to overturn an 11-8 deficit into a 25-14 lead heading into the second quarter.

The lead grew into a 36-point advantage (58-36) during the third quarter before Lehman went on a late scoring run to cut their deficit down to the final score 66-49.

The Bearcats clinch the third-seed (third place) in the upcoming CUNYAC Championship Tournament that starts on Saturday with the quarterfinal round playoffs. They will play at home against the sixth-seed Medgar Evers College with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Mia Castillo was tops again in the scoring column with 28 points, seven steals, seven rebounds, five assists and five blocks. 

Elissa Leung (tied career-high nine rebounds) and D'Andre McRae (season-high 19 rebounds) finished with 15 points each.

Ramatoulaye Diallo led the Lightning with 16 points and eight rebounds.
