Softball Splits Doubleheader at Centenary

The softball team recorded their first win of the season by splitting a doubleheader against Centenary University on Thursday afternoon in Hackettstown, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats won the first game 6-3 but fell in the second game 9-1.

In the opening game, the Bearcats scored a run in the first inning and added five more in the fifth inning to jump out to a 6-0 lead. The Cyclones did score three runs late to get as close as 6-3, but Carly Quint shut them down for the win after also batting 3-for-4 at the plate in the team's first win.

Mia Faddah had two hits and three RBI, which included a big double in the fifth inning that scored two runs.

Julia Cuttone scored twice and finished batting 3-for-4.

In the second game on a warm New Jersey afternoon, the Bearcats scored again during their first at-bat with Megan Bell crossing the plate after an infield error.

The Cyclones took control scoring three runs in the first, second, and fourth innings to split the doubleheader with a 9-1 win.

The Bearcats will hit the road on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader at New Jersey City University.
