The softball team went 1-1 today in a split against the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University in New Jersey.
The visiting Bearcats won the first game 6-4 after smacking nine total hits, including a perfect 4-for-4 by
Carly Quint and a complete game win by
Caroline Gallagher (7 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 4 K), for the solid victory against an opponent that competes in the tough New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).
Julia Cuttone was busy on the base paths scoring three runs and she scored the winning run in the sixth inning after a Quint two-run double.
Megan Bell scored two runs today as the team recorded their second win of the young season.
In the second game, the Gothic Knights scored three runs in the second inning and maintained the advantage the rest of the game for the 8-2 victory.
Cuttone smacked a two-run single in the third inning scoring Bell and
Amber Rivera to account for the team's two runs.
The Bearcats schedule continues on Tuesday with a road doubleheader against Yeshiva University.
