Baseball Earns First Win with Big Hitting Performance to Defeat Valley Forge (12-5)

The baseball team and Valley Forge University played today on a chilly Friday afternoon at FerryHawks Stadium on Staten Island.

The two teams heated up the attractive minor league stadium with 17 total runs in the non-conference contest that the Bearcats won 12-5.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings en route to their first win of the young season.

Lead-off hitter Roy Longarzo was busy batting 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, and one run scored. He also added two stolen bases.

Pedro Tejada, Jr. scored three runs and had a double.

Benjamin Luciano blasted a two-run homer in the third inning.

Jeremy Ramirez pitched a solid game to earn the win with seven innings, six strikeouts, and only one walk. Benjamin Norwood faced only six batters in his two fast and effective innings of relief with two strikeouts.

Valley Forge totaled seven hits and was led in the box score by Jack Qualteria with a single, double and a run scored.
