Bearcats Fall to SUNY-Old Westbury, 9-4

The baseball team lost a 9-4 non-conference single game to the State University of New York at Old Westbury on Wednesday night in Old Westbury, New York.

The visiting Bearcats (6-9 record) totaled four runs on nine hits, but committed seven errors in the loss to their opponent from the Skyline Conference.

The Bearcats led 3-1 early in the contest, but the home team Panthers (9-8 record) scored five runs on four hits
in the third inning to take a 6-3 lead after three innings of play.

Old Westbury would never relinquish that advantage the rest of the game and scored three more runs in the final two innings to close out the victory.

Peter Dinolfo (2-3, 2 doubles), Richard Melendez (2-5), and Ronnie Rojas (2-3) had two hits each in the tough loss for Baruch, while David Chestnut finished with two RBI.

Jason Kindra led the Panthers by batting 3-4, with one RBI and two runs scored.

The baseball team will return to action on Thursday, April 1, with a non-conference road contest at NYU-Poly. First pitch at Floyd Bennett Field is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
